Clemson

Bush-wacking

by Dan Hartman
May 28, 2014

David Tonkyn and his students from Clemson are back again for their yearly visit.

We went bush-wacking in Sunlight Basin Saturday looking for anything interesting.  And we found a few things!   Grizzly tracks on the trail for openers and farther up, wolf tracks.  Two boreal toads were discovered, ruffed grouse seemed to be everywhere and a pair of bluebirds checked us out.

We stumbled across a bear bed and possible den.

I guess what they experienced most was the feeling of being off trail on a mountain slope.
