Thursday morning Cindy and I were heading north for a grocery pick up when we came upon three 8 mile wolves standing in the middle of the road down the hill from Undine Falls.By the time I got stopped on the icy road and grabbed a camera they had slipped over the steep embankment.
Camera in hand, I got out to have a look over the edge. There stood two wolves looking back up at me. A collared adult gray and what appeared to be a black pup.
I caught movement and spotted two more adult grays crossing the road above me.
After that it was just shapes moving through the trees until all was silent again.
