Camera Traps

Season has ended

     My camera trap season is officially over, until this week I thought I could check them one more time and I could with an all day hike in and out through deep snow, I just don't want to jeopardize getting hurt.
     Anyway, some hightlights:
     Ended up getting 15 different bears, 13 of which were grizzlies. 3 with cubs. Lots of pine marten and weasel footage. Snowshoe hares and of course lots of squirrel. Dusky grouse, mule deer, elk and tons of mice and voles.
     But the highlight was before we even started in August. We checked cameras left out all last winter and found two clips of wolverine! One thirteen seconds, the other four seconds.
     Another highlight was noticing a long tailed weasel was going into a hole at the very back of one midden, so we moved a camera to cover the tunnel. We got several shots coming and going, but the coolest thing was one night in September when an owl dove at the weasel. We also got another owl with a mouse.
     At the end of the midden season, we found one of the grizzlies, who had three cubs, on a carcass. This bear had lost three toes in a wolf trap years ago, so we named her two toes. Got lots of great footage.
     Since this project is all filmed, I have only screen shots to show.
