Caterpillar

by Dan Hartman

Aug. 18, 2011

Kelly observed a caterpillar crawling up into the frame of our backdoor.  During the next few days, it formed a web around its self, then slowly a cocoon, until it was completely covered in a harden shell.  A week and a half passed with Kelly checking on it every hour or so.  Then one morning a black and white 2” moth perched beside the cocoon.  Amazingly, within an hour, it had located another of its kind and mated twenty feet from where it had emerged.
